Hydrologic Outlook National Weather Service Missoula MT 712 PM MDT Fri May 4 2018 ...Rivers and creeks on the rise due to snowmelt.... Warm temperatures this weekend and into next week will lead to additional snowmelt from the much above normal snowpack in the mountains of western Montana. The snowmelt runoff will combine with already swollen creeks and rivers to bring many rivers and creeks to flood levels. Rainfall is also expected in some river basins on Sunday into Monday with most river basins receiving less than 0.50 inches. The Bitterroot and Upper Clark Fork River basins could see rain amounts in the 0.5 inch to 0.75 inch range. The majority of runoff into creeks and rivers will come from the snowmelt, however, areas of heavier rain will also combine with the snowmelt runoff. The following rivers will approach flood stage and possibly exceed flood stage next week. Bitterroot River Blackfoot River Clark Fork River Swan River Yaak River
