The March Water Supply Outlook Report has been released and can be downloaded / viewed here. Most all of the Montana river basins report snowpacks well above normal at this time. 25 measurement sites in Montana saw new record monthly snowfall amounts for February, while another 21 sites registered their 2nd highest on record.
For Nevada Creek, the official streamflow forecast has us at 190% of average with a 50% chance of exceeding 27,000 acre feet for the April through July flow volume (16,500 AF for April-May).
I was resently requested to add more info to the website relating to statewide water supply conditions. In response, I have added map links on the Water Supply Data page that show current conditions for sites throughout Montana & the Western U.S. These include current snowpack, precipitation, stream forecasts, and drought monitor.
It’s interesting that while our area is seeing ample snowpacks, conditions change rapidly to the south…
