Nevada Creek Reservoir Update

Nevada creek reservoir reached capacity earlier this morning and has begun easing excess over the spillway. Over the past few days I have been incrementally increasing the gate discharge to provide a more gradual rise to the lower creek flow in preparation for spill. The total discharge as of last evening was at 51 c.f.s., but flows will slowly continue to increase through the remainder of today until the total discharge matches the current total reservoir inflows. Inflows over the past three days have averaged ~110 c.f.s., so we can anticipate total discharge from the dam to eventually approach this same level.

While lower to mid elevation snowpack is mostly gone, snotels are reporting substantial snowpack remaining at the upper elevation with s.w.e. on Nevada Ridge currently at 130% of normal for this date. As always, weather conditions will determine the rate of continued snow melt, but I do not anticipate flows to increase much above these current rates. Hopefully the remaining snow takes some time to come off and will provide an extended moderate flow.
